Job Scope:
This position requires a thorough understanding of facility’s treatment program and philosophy, admission process, and criteria, support and administrative services, working knowledge of various aspects of alcoholism, drug abuse, and dual diagnosis. This individual is a member of the mental health team providing professional level nursing care to patients under minimal supervision and consultation. This is a very complex position, requiring the individual to be able to work independently with minimum supervision and manage a variety of duties.
Duties:
· Serves as program liaison with Medical Director.
· Monitors patient records to insure compliance with federal/state and JCAHO regulations
· Maintains responsibility for administration of all medication
· Maintains responsibility for special patient diets with dietary department.
· Maintains accurate drug records and inventory as required by statutes
· Coordinates patient referral and transportation for medical/dental appointments
· Manages a team of approximately 30 consisting of RNs, LPNs and CNAs
· Completes or reviews nursing assessments
· Participates in treatment planning conferences
· Coordinates scheduling for Nursing department
· Provides nursing care when needed
· Supervises/provides Infection control processes
· Coordinates Pharmacy activities with appropriate committees
· Participates in overall departmental changed and development by conferring with directors, physicians, staff, standing committees, consultants to formulate treatment policies and management of resources
· Participates in coordination of the department with other disciplines
· Participates in development of and maintains department budget to ensure budgetary expectations are met
· Conducts assigned employee evaluations at 90 day and annual intervals
Qualifications:
· Graduation from an approved nursing school. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
· Previous management experience required.
· Considerable knowledge/experience in nursing philosophy, policy, practices, and procedures.
· CPR Certification
· Licensed to practice as a RN in the state of North Carolina.
· Knowledge of chemical dependency and dual diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation, opiate addiction recovery and 12 step recovery programs.
· Ability to work with male and female, adult (18-over) substance abuse/dually diagnosed population.
